By Leo Balunes Jr., Special to the Star"The Werewolf vs The Vampire Woman" deserves to be called an underrated film because its use of suspense creates horrific effects that attract the audience into watching the entire movie.This eerie and low-quality film centers on two female college students, Elvira (Gaby Fuchs) and Genevieve (Barbara Capell), who travel to an abandoned castle and meet its owner, Waldemar Daninsky (Paul Naschy). The plot-heavy narrative throws a half dozen characters into the mix, all of whom are either A) vampire lesbians, B) a werewolf, or C) soon to be dead.
While searching the countryside for the grave of supposed vampire Countess Wandesa Dárvula de Nadasdy (Barbara Capell), students Genevieve (Andres Resino) and Elvira (Gaby Fuchs) meet an amiable local named Daninsky (Paul Naschy) who offers to help them look. Not knowing he's a werewolf, they accept, and Daninsky leads them to the tomb where they accidentally revive the sleeping vampire. She attacks, and Daninsky and Elvira cooperate in trying to stop her -- falling in love in the process.

Elvira is travelling through the French countryside with her friend Genevieve, searching for the lost tomb of a medieval murderess and possible vampire, Countess Wandessa. They find a likely site in the castle of Waldemar Daninsky, who invites the women to stay as long as they like. As Waldemar shows Elvira the tomb that supposedly houses the countess, she accidentally causes the vampire to come back to life, hungrier than ever. Daninsky has a hidden secret of his own, but will it be enough to save the two girls from becoming Wandessa's next victims?
